Kings Coast Stage 4

Project Background:

We were engaged to construct a masonry retaining wall system supported by screw pile foundations. The scope of works included the installation of 120 screw piles, construction of reinforced concrete footings, and the laying of masonry blocks with capping. The project was delivered as a full package, surrounding site establishment, construction surveys, and quality assurance measures throughout all stages.

Challenges:

During construction, we encountered loose soil conditions across sections of the site, requiring careful adjustment of the installation method. An additional challenge involved the installation of 40 screw piles on a 30-degree rake, demanding precise positioning and verification to maintain structural integrity. Compliance with local authority standards and thorough geotechnical testing were essential to ensuring the piles achieved the required performance criteria.

Solution & Results:

Our team managed the project from site establishment through to completion, delivering all aspects in line with local authority requirements. The screw pile installation included comprehensive compliance testing and geotechnical investigations to verify performance. Following this, reinforced concrete footings were constructed with formwork, tied steel, and poured concrete, all subject to strict quality assurance protocols. The masonry retaining wall was then laid to specification, with all structural and aesthetic standards achieved. Despite the ground conditions and technical complexity of raked pile installations, the project achieved the recommended bearing capacity for the retained heights and was successfully completed ahead of schedule.
