Bankstown Airport - North-East Precinct
Project Background:
The Bankstown Airport project involved the construction of retaining walls to support major upgrades including new drainage systems, warehouses, and office spaces. This project featured the first use of a hybrid approach, combining Keystone MSE and NFC systems to create a unique retaining wall design.
Challenges:
The main challenge was managing the timing of the construction program, which was split into long stages with gaps in between. Additionally, heavy construction loads had to be supported directly over the retaining walls, requiring careful planning to ensure stability.
Solution & Results:
We adapted the retaining wall systems to handle load demands while working within the extended construction timeline. The hybrid wall approach provided both flexibility and strength, making it ideal for this project. The result was a reliable and structurally sound solution, supporting the development and setting the foundation for the rest of the upgrades
